A short and honest contract for using Omaku.

1. What these terms cover

These terms apply to the Omaku mobile app and the omaku.app website, including the early-access waitlist. By using Omaku, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Omaku. Additional store terms from Apple or Google also apply to app downloads.

2. Who runs Omaku

Omaku is operated by Smalausnir ehf., registered in Reykjavik, Iceland. Contact: hello@omaku.app.

3. Who can use Omaku

Omaku is designed for older adults and the family who care for them. You must be 18 or older to create an account or invite others to a family circle. Omaku is not intended for children.

4. Your account

You can use Omaku’s personal features with no account at all. To use the family features, you sign in with Google or Apple. You’re responsible for keeping access to that sign-in secure, and for activity in your circle. Let us know promptly if you think your account has been misused.

5. Omaku is not medical care

Omaku is a personal memory and organisation aid — not a medical device, and not a substitute for professional care. The medicine reminders and dose log are a convenience to help you remember; they are not medical advice, monitoring, or a clinical tool. Always follow the guidance of your doctor or pharmacist about medication, and never rely on Omaku alone for anything affecting your health or safety.

6. Your content

The memories, messages, photos, recordings and other content you add are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and sync that content so it works across your devices and appears to the family members you’ve invited. We don’t claim ownership, and we don’t use your content for advertising or sell it.

You’re responsible for what you share, and for having the right to share it. Only share content and invite people where you have permission to do so — especially other people’s photos, voices, or health information.

7. Family circles and invites

Family circles are private and invite-only — there is no public feed. An invite code lets whoever has it join your circle, so share codes only with people you trust. You control who is in your circle and can remove members or leave at any time in the app.

8. Acceptable use

Don’t use Omaku to harass, harm, impersonate, or invade the privacy of others; don’t upload unlawful, abusive, or infringing content; and don’t attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or abuse the service or its systems. We may suspend or remove access, or remove content, that clearly breaks these rules.

9. Price

Omaku is currently free. We may introduce optional paid plans (for example, larger family circles) in the future. If we do, any charge will be clearly shown and require your explicit consent before you pay — the features you rely on today won’t be taken away without clear notice.

10. Availability and changes to the app

We work to keep Omaku running well, but it’s provided “as is” and we can’t guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may update, add, or remove features over time.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Omaku at any time and delete your account in the app (Menu → Settings → My account → Delete account), which erases your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken.

12. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Icelandic law, Smalausnir ehf. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of Omaku. Nothing in these terms limits liability for things that cannot be limited under law — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by talking to us first is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Reykjavik District Court (Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur), without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current version, and we’ll tell users in the app or by email before any material change takes effect.
