Account deletion

Delete your Omaku account

You can do this yourself, in the app, in about a minute.

Last updated: 3 August 2026

1. Delete it in the app

This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately. In Omaku:

  1. Open Menu at the bottom of any screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap My account.
  4. Tap Delete account and confirm.

You will be asked to confirm once. After that the account is gone and cannot be restored — we cannot undo it for you.

2. If you never created an account

Omaku works without an account. If you use it on your own — no sign-in, no family circle — then nothing of yours has ever left your phone, and there is no account for us to delete. Uninstalling the app removes everything.

You can also delete individual items — a memory, a to-do, a reminder, a medicine — from inside the app at any time, without removing anything else.

3. Deleting only some of your data — you keep your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove something. Deleting a memory, to-do, reminder, medicine or family message inside the app removes it from your phone and from our servers — deletions travel through the same sync as everything else, so the item disappears for everyone in your family circle too. There is nothing to request and no waiting.

If you would rather we erased specific data for you, write to hello@omaku.app from the address your account uses and tell us what to remove. The same address works if you want the whole account gone. We may need to confirm it is really you before we act, and requests are completed within 30 days at the latest, which is the limit the GDPR sets.

4. What is deleted, and what is kept

DataWhat happens
Your account (sign-in identity, email, name)Deleted
Memories, to-dos, reminders, medicines and dose history saved only to youDeleted — on the phone and in our cloud
Photos, videos and voice recordings you uploadedDeleted from our storage
Push notification token for your deviceDeleted
Messages, questions and answers you shared into a loved one's family circleKept by them, but anonymised — your name is replaced with "Former member"
Media inside family messagesRemoved from our servers automatically about 90 days after sending, whether or not you delete your account
Waitlist email address (if you ever joined it on this website)Separate from the app — email us and we will remove it

Content shared into someone else's circle is kept because it is part of their memories too — deleting your account should not remove a message from a family member's feed. It stops being attributable to you.

5. Backups

Deleted data can persist in encrypted system backups for a short period before those backups age out. It is not accessible in the app, is not used for anything, and is not restored.
